OUR HISTORY
OUR HISTORY
The artistic representation of horses dates back to prehistory: this shows how mythical they are from the beginning of their presence in the lives of men in numerous civilizations from east to west.
As a passionate breeder of pure Arab bloods, I wanted to devote myself to the preservation of these princes of the desert, whose precious blood has helped to improve almost all breeds in the world.
Victims of their extraordinary qualities of hybrid vigor, too few of them have been preserved as a pure breed, with the exception of a few rare individuals collected in particular by the princes and kings of Egypt. Thanks to the vision of a few English and American enthusiasts, certain individuals have been able to reach us, carrying this exceptional genetic background.
How could I claim to improve in any way these particular souls shaped by a few millennia of selection as rigorous as harsh living conditions by the tribes of the Arabian desert?
Our breeding method is in perpetual quest to respect the needs of the species, whether it concerns life in the meadow (and not cloistered in boxes, the height of horror for a particularly claustrophobic escape animal) , in groups because it is above all a gregarious animal. They are not shod and are trained without a bit.
However, some of these rare individuals are destined to remain in breeding, because they are sometimes too old or sterile, or have been seriously injured or carry genetic diseases undesirable for reproduction or more benign but crippling conditions such as sarcoids, cushing's or summer dermatitis.
Rather than following the diktat of a market economy which consists of giving birth to numerous foals each season, weaning them far too early and getting rid of them before they cost too much, while not being too careful about the quality of the houses where they land, my horses whispered to me that other paths were possible.
The meeting with the artist Sara Foxa was a first step towards the realization of this idea. I ordered a work from him inspired by my little Bedouin horses, and we acquired the rights to it, in order to produce and distribute it in various variations.
A first edition of his work "Les Fils du Désert" is available in digital lithography.
The beauty of the design quickly inspired us to create an interpretation in silk squares.
Our little horses continue to inspire us with other creations, the sale of which helps us to offer them the most beautiful life on our lands in Dordogne.
